1993 AMRCA Nationals Race Report
Whittier Narrows, CA

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Folks; Another summer of travel and racing!! The overseas travel was to Hungary. The city of Eger is in the wine growing area in northern Hungary. The Frymires and I had a great time especially at the party, which was held in a cave that was used to age wine. Hungary has three tracks and the US has only two--- where have we gone wrong? As usual my cars were slow but I rate the race as one of the most fun ever. Ilia Tzarsky was there and gave me a lot of help with my recalcitrant 1.5cc cars so now they are both running. Ilia looked like a combination of watch repairman and brain surgeon as he tweaked the diminutive bits of the engine together.

Back in the US the Nationals were out in California. We had a good turn out of people and were able to run six classes including the first real go at 1.5's. At the annual meeting the rule requiring a back up run to set a record was abolished. This helps to bring our rules more in line with the European system. Phil McDonald reported on the progress of the reorganization of the WMCR. We should hear the final results next year.

Steve Torrey was nominated without opposition for president next year. We need some new, young ideas in the AMRCA so everyone give him your support next year.

This will be my last presidents message which is good because after two years I am about out of things to say. Now Steve will have to struggle with this quarterly problem. I won't disappear however since Dorothy Frymire and I will be joint Secretaries next year. Nick Tucci II will retire this year after many years of doing all the real work of keeping the AMRCA going. I would like to thank everyone for their support these past two years and we will see you all at the track!!!
