Beginners guide to tune your piped engine / model:

OVERHEATING / HOT WEATHER

- Increase stinger diameter or decrease stinger length (to reduce pipe pressure)
- Decrease wheel size.
- Improve cooling

COOL RUNNING / COLD WEATHER

- Decrease combustion chamber volume or head (squish band) clearance
- Decrease stinger diameter or increase stinger length
- Increase wheel size
- Decrease cooling

HIGH HUMIDITY:

- Decrease wheel size

ABOUT THE TUNED PIPE

Pipe too short:

- 'Harsh' running / frequent blowing of glow plugs
- Sand blasted head
- over heating engine
- excessive carbonising of the head
- engine sags under load, ie, long climbs

Pipe too long:

- very easy on needle
- smooth, quiet running
- prone to burbling, rich running
- no power
- none of above, try shorter and see what happens.

Only trial and error will prove which pipe is best suited to your engine requirements.
